Your very first lesson is a totally free trial lesson that will help you and the teacher get to know one another. It also lets the instructor see what level the student is at, and allows us to accurately assess skill level, adapt a lesson plan, and if not a good fit allows for a teacher to suggest a swap to a teacher that may be a better fit.
When you finally do get to your free trial lesson, you can expect the instructor to greet you and try to get to know you in a friendly manner, as how you would like to be addressed, and expect to get a lot of explanations!
One of the most common things we hear from adults and parents of students is how much they regret not continuing with music or art when they were younger. Our favorite response is always "Well what's stopping you now?" Music does not have an age limit, we have students as young as 6 months old and as old as 90!! For our private lessons we recommend that students start lesson once they are able to identify and name the entire alphabet. Our adult students seem to have the most fun and they also understand most of the harder concepts far easier than our younger students. We encourage all adults to try out a free trial lesson, there is no risk and only reward to be gained! For children 4-8 who cannot identify their alphabet yet there is a pre-requisite course called Mini Musicians that teachers beginner music concepts, and exposes them to real instruments that prepares younger students for individual private lessons.
Practice Makes Perfect hires highly qualified instructors that really care about their students. We want our students to not only excel at music bhut to also feel welcome and safe while doing so. All of our instructors are hired with Act 33 and Act 34 clearances and require all of our teachers to be mandated reporters so that you can be assured you are safe with us. Our talented teachers will guide you on your musical journey to be the best musician you can be, to whatever level you would like to get to. We know not everyone wants to be a classically trained pianist or jazz saxophonist so we cater our lesson plans to each individual student to target their strengths and guide them to be the best musician they can.
Accounts can be prepaid or paid weekly at lessons. If you choose to prepay any excused absences or lessons cancelled by the teacher will be credited to your account towards the next month of lessons. You can find all of our cancellation policies and other information in our student handbook found here!
Upon signing up for a free trial each student/parent receives a login email that lets them set up their online account for MyMusicStaff, our online service and calendar that allows students to check on their accounts, cancel lessons, register for make up lessons and classes, get lesson reminders, lesson notes from teachers, sheet music and other resources that teachers upload and more fun things!
Payments can be made via cash, check or venmo @pmpmusicstudio or can be made online through the mymusicstaff portal found here. Lessons cost $25 for half hour lessons and $45 for hour long lessons.
