Musical Time Travelers is a class for preteens and teens that focuses on composers, musical history, an world origins of instruments. Explore different time periods, learn about LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC composers, and get hands on experience with different instruments as we learn about their world origins, how to play them, and how they evolved into the instruments they are today! Classes are hosted in partnership with the Hempfield Parks and Rec department and are also available to come to your festival, school or classroom today! The most fun part of the class is the hands-on instrument exploration your child will get to participate in. They love getting to use the hand drums, keyboards, guitars, ukuleles, and other awesome instruments we have available for classes and being introduced to new instruments.
Mini Musicians is a class designed for those little ones who show interest in pursuing a musical instrument. This class not only introduces different instruments to children, but it also teaches very basic theory including, note identification, musical alphabet, vocabulary, and simple rhythm. Students get the change to play and work with real full-size instruments, child-sized working practice instruments, dedicated teaching staff, and the ability to take lessons at a younger age than normal. Successfully completing the course unlocks a discount for individual lessons.
Classes will utilize music, dance, boomwhackers, miniature working instruments, real instruments, storytelling and games to learn real music theory. The students will learn all about their musical alphabet, a few vocabulary words like "dynamics" and "tempo", what rhythm is, and they should be able to identify different types of notes. This class does wonders to prepare students to start music lessons in a really fun, stress free way which makes taking 1 on 1 lessons that much easier!
Every class will feature a new instrument from a different instrument family (Strings, woodwind, brass, percussion etc.) Students will learn about new instruments and be able to try them out with a teachers guidance. They will get a chance to play each instrument and try them out to see what they may gravitate toward trying. By the end of the course students should be more prepared to start individual lessons with one of our top notch instructors.
All of our Musical Theater classes are for beginners but all skill levels are welcome!
This class will be held in repeating 6 week sessions on Monday evenings at 7:30pm to 9:00pm and will be held at the Green Beacon Gallery. There will be a week or two break between each 6 week course. Exploring musical theatre fundamentals through a theme, group number and smaller numbers will be worked on in a masterclass style. The class will feature outside assignments on analysis/character work, and will be a more intensive theater course. Beginners are welcome!
Starts 6 weeks, 1 hour long class on Sunday evenings at 6:15pm. Will focus on group numbers around a theme Again, depending on enrollment, smaller numbers worked masterclass style alongside one/two group numbers. No experience necessary, but teens with theater experience are welcome!
Saturday mornings at 10:15am 45minute class 9 week course.
One-two group numbers will be learned in the class, and culminate in a showcase for the parents in last class. In class Students will study and develop the following skills: singing/memorization, solos, basic movement and acting.

Runs through the summer weekly at 12:30pm Saturdays and will focus on group numbers around a theme drama games, audition preparation, and acting techniques, smaller numbers worked masterclass style alongside one/two group numbers. No experience necessary, but teens with theater experience are welcome!
