Andrew DeBroeck is a graduate of St. Vincent College, and he has been employed by a number of churches in the area as an organist/accompanist/music director. During his time at St. Vincent, he served as rehearsal pianist for the student-run musical theatre group, The Company, and also played for two Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. He has also studied a number of other instruments, and every year played in various incarnations of the small instrumental chamber ensemble on campus, whether on flute, violin, or viola. In addition, he has played piano or woodwinds in various other pit orchestras in local college, high school, and community theatre programs.
He also enjoys playing in larger ensembles, including; performing 2nd oboe with the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra in his youth, bassoon with the WCCC Symphonic Band and WCCC Orchestra, viola with the Seton Hill Sinfonia, and bassoon with Westmoreland Symphonic Winds. For the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra’s Academy of Music Summer Philharmonic, he played a different instrument each season for three seasons; viola, oboe, bassoon. Principle teacher include Kathleen Dodge-DeHaven, Maura Vine (piano), Michele Boulet (flute), Rise Kostilnik (oboe), Dawn Posey (violin/viola).
An avid multi-instrumentalist, Andrew is a special advocate for those wishing to pick up a second (or third) instrument. he teaches piano, flute, oboe, and bassoon at all levels, as well as violin/viola from beginning to intermediate levels. Andrew does not teach reedmaking at this time.
